Meet J. D.
I was born in a small town outside of Shreveport, Louisiana. Now I live in Texas, surrounded by the love and noise of my family. A husband. A father of four. A dreamer with his hands on the keyboard.
I’ve traveled the world—more than 25 countries. Studied Film & Television. Built businesses. Chased creativity. I didn’t always have time to write. But the stories never left.
These days, I write between the beautiful chaos of parenting. Not for escape—but for clarity. For peace. For purpose. Because in my world, the only thing louder than my children is the sound of the keyboard.
One day, I met a man who claimed to be a time traveler. His name was James Bleon—he called himself Irboust Root. He asked me a question I’ll never forget: "Do you have vivid dreams?"
That question sparked a universe. Now, I tell stories born from dreams, memory, and hope. Stories for anyone searching for meaning inside the mess. For anyone who believes there's more to life than survival.

Why JotU Exist?
This isn’t a pitch. It’s a heartbeat. I didn’t start JotUPublishing to chase trends. I started it because I wanted something different—for myself, for my kids, and for the people who feel like their stories are always told for them, not by them.
I’m a Black father who’s lived life. I’ve served, struggled, succeeded, and learned that our stories are bigger than what’s often written for us. Not every story has to be about crime, pain, or running from something. Sometimes, it’s about running toward something.
Toward healing. Toward imagination. Toward legacy. JotU is short for Jot Universe. And that’s what this is—a universe born from writing, from dreaming, from believing that our lives are more than survival.
It’s proof that we existed. That we loved. That we dreamed loudly. And that we passed something powerful to those who come next.
Whether I’m writing a story about dreams colliding, a kid finding their place in the world, or a father just trying to show up better, I do it with the hope that someone out there reads it and says, “Yeah... this is for me.”
That’s why JotU exists. And that’s why it always will.
